Where StoxDeck is the wrong tool
It does not connect to your brokerage. Holdings are typed in, which means no credentials to hand over and no sync to break, but it also means you do the entering. It covers US-listed stocks and ETFs, so a London or Frankfurt listing will not price. And it does not give advice — it does arithmetic on numbers you supply, accurately, and stops there.
If automatic brokerage syncing or international coverage is what you need, other trackers do those well and this one does not. Better to know now than after paying.
Questions about pricing
- What happens when I reach 15 holdings on the free plan?
- Nothing you already own is touched. Every position stays visible, keeps pricing live, and you can still buy more of anything you already hold, sell, and edit history. The only thing the limit stops is adding a sixteenth distinct symbol. Most people sit well under 15 for a long time, which is why the free plan is not a trial that expires — it is a plan you can stay on indefinitely.
- Is there a free trial of Pro?
- There is no separate trial, because the free plan does the same job better. You can use StoxDeck properly — real holdings, live prices, full cost-basis engine — for as long as you like without entering a card. When 15 holdings stops being enough, that is the moment Pro is worth $49, and not before.
- Can I cancel, and what happens to my data?
- You can cancel any time from your account page, and you keep Pro until the end of the year you already paid for — there is no partial-month clawback. After that the account returns to the free plan. Nothing is deleted: every transaction you entered stays in your ledger, and if you hold more than 15 symbols you can still see and sell them, you just cannot add new ones until you upgrade again.
- Does StoxDeck connect to my brokerage automatically?
- No. Holdings are entered by hand, and that is a real tradeoff worth knowing before you pay. It means no bank credentials to hand over and no sync that silently breaks, but it also means you do the typing. If automatic brokerage syncing is what you need, StoxDeck is the wrong tool and other trackers do it well.
- Which markets are covered?
- US-listed stocks and ETFs. Prices come from a US market data provider, so a London or Frankfurt listing will not price. You can still add a symbol by hand to keep it in your records, but it will show without a live price. International coverage is not currently on the roadmap.
- Who handles the payment?
- Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. They handle the checkout, the card details, and any VAT or sales tax due in your country — StoxDeck never sees or stores your card. Your receipt and invoices come from Paddle, and you can manage the payment method and cancel from the same portal.
- Will the price go up later?
- If it does, not for you. Anyone already subscribed keeps the price they signed up at for as long as the subscription stays active. That is a straightforward promise to make when there is exactly one plan and no upsell path.
